Christian de Duve received the "Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology" in 1974, and in that same year he founded the International Institute of Cellular and Molecular Pathology (ICP).
Since then he had not only remained remarkably active in science and in promoting the ICP, which would later be renamed de Duve Institute, but had also devoted much of his time, talents and enthusiasm to the advancement of scientific knowledge and to kindle the sparks that ignite investigative careers.
Until 2013, Ch. de Duve remained founding member of the Board of Directors of the ICP.
Christian de Duve passed away on May 4th, 2013.
